The Blue Flame team managed a very respectable 3rd place out of 47 teams as part of the Stafford Shield Charity Golf Competition.
The team, which comprised of our electrician Jamie, engineer Nigel and friend of Blue Flame , Paul Collins from Miller Commercial, came in with an impressive score of 86 and were just pipped to the post by the winning team Perranporth who had a score of 87.
Not only did the Blue Flame team come away with third place, they won additional awards for ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘2s’ challenges.
The competition was organised by Mark Holden and the team at The Victoria Inn, Threemilestone in aid of the Cornish Heart Unit Fund. This charity supports cardiac patients across Cornwall and are based at Treliske Hospital. The Vic team began the Stafford Shield fundraising 4 years ago when their good friend and neighbour, Nigel Stafford, was diagnosed with a severe heart condition.
The annual event has to date, raised in excess of £20,000 for charity.
Aside from the golfing competition there was also a variety of charity auctions held in the evening. These included a silent auction, in the room auction and an online only auction which was broadcast live on the Cornwall Channel. Viewers had the opportunity to bid live for the prizes offered, including a brand new Worcester Boiler, donated by ourselves.
Our director Mark was interviewed by the Cornwall Channel during the event. You can catch up on this on their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/CornwallChannel
We are waiting to hear the final total raised from the event but rough estimations on the evening were around the £9000 mark which is an incredible amount of money.
We’d like to extend our thanks to Mark and the team at the Vic for putting on such a well organised, successful event and were very grateful to be asked to take part.
We’re brushing up our skills on the green and aiming for top spot next year!!
