Matt’s ‘Three Peaks Challenge’

Posted by

Another of our team is to do something great and take on a challenge to raise funds and awareness.

In October, our operations manager Matt, will be trekking the 3 highest points in the UK in the ‘3 Peaks challenge’ for local men’s mental health support group ‘Man Down’

The three peaks challenge is an attempt to climb the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours. Here comes the science bit – 26 miles(42km) of total horizontal distance and 3000m (9,843ft) of vertical ascent all in 24 hours! This is definatley one of the more grueling challenges to take on!

Matt along with 9 other men are walking the 3 peaks to raise money and awareness for local men’s mental health support group – Man Down. Man Down is an informal support group who’s aim is to provide comfort and clarity, to people who are experiencing mental health problems. The support group is an informal way of providing individuals with the necessary support and guidance, to help point them in the right direction towards their own recovery.
1 in 4 people suffer from depression, anxiety or other mental illnesses in their lifetime.

Matt has already started his training and as a keen cyclist is using that to help prepare him for the challenge ahead.

We will keep you updated with progress and how they get on completing the challenge.
