We are pleased to welcome our six new apprentices to the blue flame team.
Aaran, Tom, Justin & Joe will be joining as Gas engineering apprentices with Stewart and Oliver as Electrical engineering apprentices.
The new recruits all come from various backgrounds, some are school/college leavers and strangely enough, four of the group come from catering and hospitality careers. (We’ve already tapped them up to cook us up a feast at Christmas!)
The apprentices will begin full time work in July and will spend their days learning and being mentored by our senior engineers and helping to support some of our 12,000 customers across Cornwall. They will also complete formal qualifications in their relevant trades at Cornwall College on a day release programme.
The apprentices were formally inducted to the company with a presentation evening at our offices in Penryn with the apprentice’s parents, family and partners also invited along.
Speakers on the evening included members of the Blue Flame senior management team, apprentices past and present, as well as representatives of some of our key partners – Nathan Hunt from Worcester Bosch and Gareth Jones from Coastline Housing.
Each apprentice was presented with a full tool kit to officially welcome them (and to also make sure they have everything ready for their first day!)
Our Senior Technician and interview panellist for the new apprentices commented…
“The calibre of applications for apprenticeships this year, was the highest we have seen. Over 100 people applied and we had the very difficult job of choosing just a handful of successful applicants. Originally there we only three positions available but we extended this to six as it was just incredibly hard to pick amongst them.”
“It’s great to welcome so many new apprentices, especially on our 30th year and I look forward to working with them and helping develop their careers over the next 3 years.”
