In February 2018 our team installed a brand new boiler and heating system at the Mabe Youth and Community Project which is based just a few minutes up the road from our offices, in Cunningham Park, Mabe.
The boiler was funded by a £7,000 grant from the Falmouth Packet’s parent company Newsquest.
The new installation in the community hall, which is used by various groups and organisations in the community, offers up to 50% more efficiency than the previous system.
The project have also coupled the new installation with their current solar panel systems so they can generate energy and keep fuel bills to a minimum.
Keith Bryant, chairman of the Mabe Youth and Community Project, said: “For a community who is struggling with money, we are very grateful for the grant.”
Speaking about the old heating system that was replaced, he said: “It needed human intervention to get it to work. We’re super-efficient now, with one of the most efficient boilers going.
“In summer, we won’t even be using gas, just solar. It will cut our heating bills by a third if not half.”
We really enjoyed undertaking this project for our local community and seeing how it is benefiting them. Plus we know the team definitely enjoyed the cooked lunch on Tuesday when the community group hold their lunch club!!
