Members of the Blue Flame team took to the waters of Falmouth Harbour on Sunday as part of the annual dragon boat races which conclude the Falmouth Week celebrations.
The event, which is now in its 24th year, saw 13 teams battle…or should we say paddle… it out for the fastest race times of the day.
Team Blue Flame was on good form, averaging around 59 seconds for each of their races. Sadly this wasn’t quite enough for the medal races, with some of the finalists pulling in sub 55 seconds times!
It was a great event which wasn’t only a good day out but also raising money for a great cause. This year the event was supporting the Alzheimer’s society. Teams were collecting donations throughout the day, and although we are still waiting for the final totals, it looked like the pounds were rolling in, with the buckets looking pretty full at the end of the event.
We would like to thank the team from Dragon Boat Events for organising a brilliant day. A massive well done to all the teams involved and to all the spectators who were cheering all the teams on.
Team Blue Flame is already excited for next year and with some of the crew already planning their training programme! Next year we’re aiming for the medals!!!
